About Our Services

Update – September 2020
To honor state health directives, and to ensure the greatest safety and protection for our community, our current listing of services and gatherings has been updated. There are now two Outdoor Communion services held in our Courtyard area each weekend. Physical distancing, taking temperatures, regular sanitizing, and other health precautions are in effect:

 >>  Saturday 5:30pm -- Outdoor Communion in the Courtyard
 >>  Sunday 8:30am --- Classic Virtual Worship  (Facebook Live)
 >>  Sunday 9:30am --- Outdoor Communion in the Courtyard
 >>  Sunday 10:30am -- Praise Virtual Worship  (Facebook Live)

In addition, our two streamed services on Facebook Live each week will include “Virtual Holy Communion.” We encourage those worshiping from home to prepare bread and wine, and to participate fully during this interim period of staying at home. We all look forward to returning to in-person Communion for everyone as soon as health orders permit.

We hope that these new and updated services will provide inspiration and hope at this difficult time for us all. We encourage those at higher infection risk to continue participating safely from home, through our streaming options. For more information, please read the resources and links below. All are welcome!

Accessing FLCS Streamed Services:
Sunday Worship services will continue to be streamed through Facebook Live, and can be accessed whether you have a Facebook account or not. Below are the links that will work during the live stream times. These videos will be posted live, and are also available to view after the live stream is done. You might have a prompt to initiate a Facebook account. However, there is an option below the pop-up to not make an account and see the videos and even the other content on the page -- choose "Not Now."

SATURDAYS:

Living Water Communion - 5:30pm
This intimate service of Water, Word and Table combines contemporary music and proclamation in a smaller group setting. We gather in a circle around the Bread of Life in Holy Communion, receiving and sharing the bread and cup as saints and servants. Baptisms are frequent at these services, and it’s not uncommon to find special parish events and musical offerings at these services as well.

SUNDAYS:

Classic Communion - 8:30am
The Lord’s Day begins with this traditional service of repentance, word, table and discipleship. Musical accompaniment is provided by the church’s magnificent pipe organ, and supported by an adult choir. Often times there are special offerings by our bell choirs, children’s ensembles or school classes. Communion is always celebrated, and people of all ages and backgrounds are welcomed to the Table of Christ’s presence and grace. A festive coffee hour follows the service, offering hospitality, food and friendship.

Praise Communion - 10:30am
Worship and praise is pretty diverse at First, and our late morning service is a good example of this diversity. A praise band leads this service, with voices, piano, synthesizer, guitars and percussion. Proclamation and teaching are presented with sensitivity to the ages and backgrounds of the community, and a spirit of joy and thanksgiving pervades these services year round. Our high quality Sunday School program is held during the service, and children of all ages rejoin us for Communion and final blessing. Caring child care is provided at both Sunday services.

SPARK Sunday School - 10:30 am (September - June)

TUESDAYS:

Morning Prayer (September - June) - 9:00am
“Oh come let us sing to the Lord! (Psalm 95:1)” This word of scripture frames this weekly 20 minute service of word, song and prayer. What a great way to start the day, and to open ourselves to the strength and comfort of God at the beginning of our daily walk.

REJOICE! WEDNESDAYS
Evening Fellowship & Prayer - 6:00pm
Close of day provides a wonderful opportunity to welcome the Light of Christ into our lives, gather for fellowship, prayers and praises, and offer each other the Lord’s Peace in the midst of a variety of Learning groups for youth and adults at 7pm. .

SCHOOL CHAPELS

Day School Chapel services (September - June)
The 400+ members of our day school community gather each week for two energetic services of praise and teaching. Our pastoral staff leads these times of prayer and praise, and a student praise band adds contemporary voice and song.

Early Education Center/Preschool Chapel Service - 11:30 am on Wednesdays and Thursdays (year round).
