Evangeline Dai (Pronunciation: i-VAN-juh-lin DAY) will serve at FLCS from August 2021 through July 2022 as vicar (AKA: pastoral intern). She was born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan, an alumnus of The Affiliated Senior High School of National Taiwan Normal University, and attained BA in Philosophy at National Chengchi University in Taiwan.
Before she moved to the US, Evangeline worked as an executive assistant to a lawyer, design coordinator, and graphic designer. After she moved to Houston in 2014, she worked as a contractor for Southern Chinese Daily News, a bookkeeper in a wholesale company, and a trainee office manager in a manufactory. After all the career changes, she received God’s call on Pentecost Sunday in 2017 (June 4th) after serving in Faith Lutheran Church in Bellaire, TX as a lay minister for 2 years, and became an ELCA Ordained Ministry Candidate in Texas-Louisiana Gulf Coast Synod. She believes that an important part of her call is for multi-cultural ministries and diversity, as indicated in Pentecost Sunday’s Scripture readings.
Evangeline is taking the Master of Divinity (MDiv) program at Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley, CA since 2018, and has finished 3 years of academic works. She also finished CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education) program as an intern chaplain in MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. When Evangeline studied as a residential student, she worked part-time in the TEEM (Theological Education for Emerging Ministries) office at the seminary.
