Earthquakes in Chile and Haiti : Response
The ELCA is continuing to respond to the devastation in Haiti and Chile through the Lutheran World Federation. LWF already had staff in Haiti working to help communities which meant they were available to begin the work of providing food and shelter and helping people to rebuild their lives.

Donations can also be made through First Lutheran and the money will be forwarded to Lutheran World Relief. One hundred percent of donations designated for Haiti or Chile will be used for the relief efforts in those countries. Neither First Lutheran nor the ELCA deduct for administrative costs. Donations that indicate Disaster Response are divided equally between domestic and international disaster response unless otherwise designated. It is possible to designate Domestic Disaster Response or International Disaster Response. In that case, the money will be used for the most urgent need. The rebuilding period will continue long after the news media have left the area.
