Volunteer to Help
Volunteers fuel the many special events and programs at First Lutheran School. Whatever your special skills or passion, we need you! Here are just a few examples of how you can help: Parent Teacher Fellowship (PTF) -- Support the school and meet other parents by participating in the many PTF projects throughout the school year. PTF meetings are generally held in the evening on the first Monday of the month. Room Parents -- Each classroom has a room parent who works with the classroom teacher and other parents to coordinate special events. Adventures in Art -- Adventures in Art is staffed entirely by parent volunteers, who teach hands-on art education lessons in the classrooms at all grade levels. No previous art experience or skills are needed. Field Trips -- Parents assist teachers as chaperones on various class field trips. After-School Sports -- Parents help transport our student athletes to away games for the interscholastic sports teams. Eighth-Grade Fundraising -- Throughout the school year, the eighth-grade class sponsors events to raise funds for the East Coast trip in June. Parents help plan and supervise these programs. Principal's Advisory Committee (PAC) -- This group of teacher, student and parent representatives meets monthly with the principal to discuss school issues and develop plans for improvement. Special Programs -- Parents can volunteer as judges for the science fair and speech meet, Career Day speakers, library assistants, staff at the school book fair, "stagehands" for the winter and spring musical productions, organizers and workers for the Holiday Gift Shop and chaperones for the dances and receptions. The opportunities are endless ... Look for more information on these and other volunteer opportunities in the school newsletters or by calling the school office at (310) 320-9920, ext. 100. |
