SCRIP

scrip1

Through First Lutheran's Scrip Program, families and individuals can support First Lutheran just by doing their regular shopping and dining at their favorite restaurants.

Scrip is similar to a gift certificate. It is purchased for face value for no additional charge and can be used as cash at local markets, department stores and other retailers. Scrip certificates can be purchased through First Lutheran's Scrip Office window, located at the back of the church office building.

Purchasing scrip helps families and individuals in several ways:

Raise money for the school and congregation ministry -- Although there is no additional charge for Scrip, First Lutheran benefits from every Scrip purchase. That's because merchants donate a percentage of the amount of scrip purchased through First Lutheran. School family purchases benefit school programs, and congregation member purchases benefit programs and activities of the congregation.

Meet the H.U.G. fund activity fee -- As a part of the annual tuition and fees for First Lutheran School, each FLS family makes a $200 payment each year to the school's annual building fund, H.U.G. (Help Us Grow). For each Scrip purchase a family makes, the percentage that is donated by the merchant back to the school is deducted from that annual amount.

The Scrip Office offers scrip in various denominations for more than 90 grocery and drug stores, retailers, movie theaters and restaurants. The Scrip Office is located in Fellowship Hall, and is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to noon and 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Summer hours begin June 14, 2010, Monday through Thursday
9 am to 12 noon, closed on Friday.
